Global Education Assessment:To say that your classroom or school is "global" is nice, but you need to show that your students are, in fact, global. Assessment tools like the ones that are found in this section will help you assess the "globalness" of your teaching, student achievement, and school environment. As has been repeated many times over, the need for global education is real and we as educators need to prepare our students with the knowledge and skills required to become competent global citizens, workers, and leaders. Global Assessment Tools: |
The Global Competencies are only one tool that can be utilized for assessing global learning. There are a number of rubrics, guidelines, frameworks, and matrices out there; however, most revolve around the aforementioned competencies as outlined by the Asia Society. One of the most common assessment tools for global education is Fred Czarra's Global Education Checklist. In his “Global Education Checklist,” Czarra explains that the global education can be divided into three themes: global issues, global culture, and global connections which are transferable across all academic disciplines and relative to everyday living. His checklist serves as an assessment tool that can be used at the classroom, school, district and state level. Having used this checklist myself, I highly recommend it as a comprehensive assessment tool for any academic institution. The checklist is easy to complete and the results are clearly delineated, specifically detailing areas of achievement and areas in need of improvement. It is an essential tool to have in your global education toolbox! Get the Global Education Checklist Here! |
